Welcome to the Village of West Salem

The Village of West Salem, Incorporated in 1865, is located in Wayne County, Ohio. The population was 1,430 at the 2020 census.


 Effective 1/31/22 Village Hall Hours are:

Monday - 8 AM - 3 PM

Tuesday - 8 AM - 4 PM

Wednesday - 8 AM - 4 PM

Thursday - 8 AM - 3 PM

Friday - CLOSED

Saturday & Sunday - CLOSED


Utility payments can be made at Village Hall during these hours, at Farmers State Bank, online (fees apply), mailed to Village Hall, or they can be left in the secure drop box outside Village Hall.



** There will be a personnel meeting Friday, September 16, 2022 at 2:15 PM at 11 Congress Street. The public is encourged to attend.**

                                            Fall Cleanup for Village customers of Kimble will be Tuesday October 18, 2022



All items to be hauled will be in disposable containers (with the exception of tree limbs and brush which must be in bundles not to exceed four (4) feet in length nor weigh more than 50 pounds) and placed at the curb by 6:30 a.m.  Containers should not weigh more than 50 pounds.  Dirt, rocks or materials of this nature will not be hauled.  Furniture and appliances will be taken, however, appliances containing Freon will have a red tag indicating the Freon has been removed.

The following items will not be taken: Batteries, motor oil, tires, paints (if not solidified), liquids of any kind, fluorescent light bulbs, hazardous materials, these materials are prohibited by Ohio EPA for disposal in municipal solid waste landfills.

Access the Stark-Tuscarawas-Wayne Solid Waste District’s website at for assistance in disposing of unacceptable materials.  The District also provides free year-round tire drop-off program for Wayne County residents at a site in Wooster.  There is a 12 tire limit per person per year and the tires have to be off the rim.
